Aside from two rather heinous errors; the first being that Gabrielle's name was spelled three different ways in one paragraph (which I blame on software) and the second being that a vampire as old as Stephen would not speak using modern vernacular, especially in the heat of battle (dangling participles) this was definitely a five star read.So much was accomplished, so much was outlined for future novels, so many characters had huge accomplishments (At least for them) that this book brought me completely into their world. I laughed out loud at certain parts and i was generally concerned at others.
Have you ever noticed that whenever you see a Paul in a book or film, he's usually either a douche or he dies rather quickly? I'm a Paul and i notice it constantly. Just an observation.
Congratulations Mr Anderle on another great read!
If you ever need specifics on police or corrections, feel free to contact me. I've got over twenty years in with both. I don't offer my services lightly, but I'm a fan and would hate to see a scene derailed by something that can be fixed easily.

Under My Heel The Kurtherian Gambit Book 6 edition by Michael Anderle Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Ever been on a roller coaster that takes turns you didn't have time to see coming? Doesn't happen like that in many books, but this series has had a number of twists that I didn't anticipate. Other things where, "oh crap, what if [something specific and unfortunate] happens?" But then it doesn't happen, and it's almost a relief.
Anyway, if you haven't been reading the series, start with the first book, "Death Becomes Her", or you WILL get lost. Also, please note that there is a considerable amount of bad language, though it seems to be tapering off a bit. It seems to ebb and flow, though, so don't expect that to last. Also, while I don't normally like a lot of strong language in my reading, this series is a definite exception.
Anyway, characters and plot are terrific. The material in this series has elements I haven't seen anywhere else, and other elements that I've seen attempted elsewhere and didn't work, but here they do, gloriously! Keep it up, Mike!
Okay, so a lot of thoughts! I've recently binge-read books 1-6, alternating between print and audible.
PROS I am a woman of simple tastes. For me to like something, it generally has to have swords, guns, or spaceships. This series has all of those things in abundance, so I'm pretty gosh darn happy. It has pretty much everything, in fact. Vampires to spacecraft. Hacking to the... you know - the more traditional kind of hacking. Anderle obviously works really hard to provide us with a ridiculously constant flow of entertaining adventure books with a fun cast of characters who pull death defying stunts in an array of picturesque places. I really appreciate we have vamps 'n werewolves without the cast having sex every 5 minutes. I'm no prude, but I'm in this for the dashing adventure, not the dashing romance. So, cheers. These books are fun, fun, fun.
CONS Okay. So this is a sci-fi / fantasy series. You can only get so nitpick-y with a book with werewolves in it. Here are my major gripes. Enough to take it down a star, because I'm a big jerk.
The weirdest thing to me is that the book synopses read like a 'hero's journey'. Bethany Anne definitely doesn't have one. She *always* wins. She comes out of every conflict with a profanity-ridden one-liner, and usually wearing really good shoes. Even James Bond gets beaten up, once in a while. These books are super feel-good, at least so far. (Minor Spoilers!) The worst thing that really happens to the protagonists in books 1-6 is a couple total red-shirt deaths (the characters have less than 10 pages of action before their untimely demises). I mean, 2018 is kind of lousy, and it's kind of refreshing to never have any real stress as a reader, because Bethany Anne is super OP - and she's guaranteed to teleport in to save the day every time. Perhaps this is a very slow arc leading to a serious climax or conflict in a later book. I'm definitely not asking for Game of Thrones, but I hope he someday decides to kill off a character we're attached to. It would add a lot.
The second gripe that I have is that I really wish Mr. Anderle would get some ex-military people in his test reader crowd. There are ton of goofy misunderstandings of how the military works, slang, rank, bases. I get he spits these books out insanely quickly and they're total fantasy, but he's obviously doing some research into other areas like IT. He'll go into a page of minutiae about blade servers and Cisco contracts, but he assumes stuff like enlisted people serving at one base and for one general their entire careers, and that people can and will easily exit before their enlistments are through to join an adventure. I totally volunteer as tribute if he needs somebody. Anyway, if you've served in the US gov or mil, you're really going to cringe every other chapter or so. First season Stargate SG-1 level.
I was a bit worried about the “Europe is erupting is tension and violence.” statement in the book blurb. It almost sounded like the story was going to turn into some kind of apocalypse story.
Luckily the book blurb was a bit exaggerated. The events were more or less just another terrorist attack. Apparently a rather bloody one but still. Not exactly “Europe erupting in violence”. To me that was a good thing. I am not too fond of apocalypse stories.
Bethany Anne as well as her bitches continues to kick ass. All of them are working towards Bethany’s modest goal of saving the world. In the process they are of course slaying Nosferatu’s and bad guys with great enthusiasm and a healthy dose of innovative politically incorrect language.
At the same time they are working on expanding their understanding and inventory of alien technology. It is almost as fun to read these parts as it is reading about Bethany Anne’s ass-kicking, although it is not exactly hard core science fiction. Actually it is more fiction and less science.
In contrast to the fast paced action the main story arc is moving forward in a more leisurely pace. It is just the right pace for me though. Bethany Anne and her people are evolving, the plot is evolving, the save the world part of the story is evolving etc…
I really do not want to go into details out of fear of spoiling things too much but one of Bethany Anne’s projects for technology development interacts with Bethany herself in a slightly unexpected way. This gives the author the opportunity to drop somewhat of a Tsar Bomba, at least for Bethany Anne, at the end of the book. Luckily the next books are already published otherwise I would have called it cruelty towards the readers.
Bottom line, great book and as enjoyable as the other ones in the series have been.
Aside from two rather heinous errors; the first being that Gabrielle's name was spelled three different ways in one paragraph (which I blame on software) and the second being that a vampire as old as Stephen would not speak using modern vernacular, especially in the heat of battle (dangling participles) this was definitely a five star read.
